Are bothering me, I keep waking up with these clear little bumps on my hands, that ITCH LIKE THE DEPTHS OF A THOUSAND FIREY HELLS.

After some quick research it turns out that its a form of eczema thats generally brought on by something you’re touching.

Greeeeeeeeat. I don’t touch gross disgusting things all the time or anything.

Off to the dermatologist I go.

In other news, life is good. I love the house, I love my fiancee. Things are moving along nicely, and we’re doing little upgrades here and there. Pictures soon I swear. I promise.

Pictures to come of house, and home. But til then let me just regale you with the following pictures

First is my seriously redneck barbeque grill. Which my grandfather salvated over, and then asked me if next time he came up, “Could I operate it?”. And then went on to tell me he did have the experience with such a set-up. I let him know that I was in fact not looking for his grilling resume, and yes Pop-Pop you can operate it.

And then there was this, which mi Madre also provided us with. Ours is different and nicer than this one, I just couldn’t find a picture of it. We’ve eaten outside every night.

Followed by one of these

Which again my mom, hauled along with her, because she is le-awesome.

Anyway, pictures of house and home to come. Til then I am le tired. And I must sleep.

You have got to be kidding me

The New York State Senate can not get a single thing accomplished, because they are too busy acting like 4 year olds who can’t get along in the sandbox.

They can however stop and have a moment of silence for Michael Jackson? Saying things like “Thank god we live in his time”

Seriously?

I’m sorry to all the Micheal Jackson lovers. But you know what, I think he was creepy. He held his infant son over the side of a balcony stories and stories up in the air. He released ridiculous rumors about himself just to gain publicity, he was accused not once, not twice, but several times of child molestation. He bleached his skin to change his race.

And yet this, this is someone we as a nation idolize?

Ridiculous. Fucking ridiculous.

Things and stuff

Things are moving along at quite the jaunt lately. we’re *supposed* to close on the house in 7 days! 7 days kids! Oh.My.God. I can’t believe how quickly time is ticking by lately. Its insane. Truly insane.

Work has been very slow, but apparently that is all about to change. Personally I prefer to not be busy in the summer, 1. Its beautiful outside and thats where I want to be, in my new backyard. 2. Who wants to work in a hot sweaty scenery shop in 95 degree weather for 8 hours a day, and 3. Who wants to do overtime in the above conditions.

Anyway, back to the throws of packing. Pictures of the new place to come soon. Followed by LOTS of happy home owner projects, and canning, and BBQ!!!

Thoughts on things like that instead of a veil for a wedding?

Because frankly I love it. They also have a white/ivory ones that I would wear for the ceremony, and then something like this for the reception!

Thoughts anyone?

Texas outlaws Lighting Design

This morning, the Texas House Senate passed HB 2649, which outlaws nearly all theatrical lighting designers currently working.  This bill forces all lighting designers to be either licensed electricians, or registered as an architect or interior designer.

SECTION 3. Subchapter G, Chapter 1001, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 1001.3011 to read as follows:
Sec. 1001.3011. LIGHTING DESIGN; LICENSE OR REGISTRATION
REQUIRED. (a) A person may not perform or offer to perform
lighting design services unless the person is:
(1) licensed as an engineer under this chapter;
(2) registered as an architect, landscape architect,
or interior designer under Subtitle B, Title 6; or
(3) licensed under Chapter 1305.
(b) In this section, “lighting design services” means the
preparation of plans and specifications that depict the placement
and direction of illumination of mounted or installed lighting
fixtures in the interior or exterior of a building, including the
specification of bulbs, reflectors, lens, louvers, baffles, and
other hardware. The term does not include the preparation of shop
drawings or other directions from a manufacturer for the
installation or operation of lighting fixtures.
SECTION 4. Section 1001.401, Occupations Code, is amended
by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
(e) A license holder is not required to provide or hold any
additional certification, other than a license issued under this
chapter, to seal an engineering plan, specification, plat, or
report.
SECTION 5.Subchapter F, Chapter 1051, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 1051.308 to read as follows:
Sec. 1051.308.  LIGHTING DESIGN; REGISTRATION OR LICENSE
REQUIRED. (a) A person may not perform or offer to perform
lighting design services unless the person is:
(1) registered as an architect, landscape architect,
or interior designer under this subtitle;
(2) licensed as an engineer under Chapter 1001; or
(3) licensed under Chapter 1305.
SECTION 6. Subchapter D, Chapter 1305, Occupations Code, is
amended by adding Section 1305.1511 to read as follows:
Sec. 1305.1511. LIGHTING DESIGN; LICENSE OR REGISTRATION
REQUIRED. (a) A person may not perform or offer to perform
lighting design services unless the person is:
(1) licensed under this chapter;
(2) licensed as an engineer under Chapter 1001; or
(3) registered as an architect, landscape architect,
or interior designer under Subtitle B, Title 6.

This bill will become law if signed by the governor, but it also has the votes to override a veto .  BackstageJobs.com urges every designer to join with the IALD in opposing this misguided bill. Otherwise, as of September 1, 2009, there will be a lot of shows going dark.

On house buying and where my mind is at…
April 29, 2009, 6:13 pm

Not here, thats for sure. Really it isn’t anywhere, my mind that is, other than on this house. All I think about is the house.

Patio furniture, barbecuing , clotheslines, vegetable gardens, being able to eat dinner outside in the yard, so on and so forth.

That aside I also spend a considerable amount of time calculating, recalculating, and hey for the fun of it re-re-calculating our monthly numbers. They work out fine every time, its just so stressful.

But here’s to hoping!
