I graduated on Friday May 16th, it was cold, pouring rain, windy as all get out, and muddy like you wouldn’t believe.
I am officially not a ‘child’ any longer. Which terrifies me a little bit. But at the same time, doesn’t feel any different. It was weird to say goodbye to people with the knowledge that I would not be seeing them again in 3 months. That it was more of a “Good luck with life, hope it all works out for you” kind of feeling.
Its odd to know that the “student” part of my life in the conventional sense is over.
My boss said on Friday, that ‘learning time was over, and I was only an employee come Monday’. Which made me a bit frustrated to be honest, because I believe that ‘learning time’ should never be over, you should spend the rest of your life learning. If you stop learning, you.just.stop. In my mind.
I want to spend my life soaking up every bit of information, and looking and finding out about new things. We should NEVER stop learning. And for a superior in an industry (Entertainment lighting) that is CONSTANTLY changing and evolving with new technology. Why on gods green earth would you ever tell your employees to stop learning? That their time to learn was over? That effectively stops your growth in this ever changing industry.
Would you ever want to stop learning?
